Providing Home Improvements for Korean War Veteran
September 2023: We have been providing support to a local Korean War Veteran since 2022 and during that time have had the opportunity to get to know him very well. This relationship allowed us to understand the full scope of improvements he would need to his home in order for him to continue to live in the home safely and with dignity.
The scope of the home improvements are far beyond the capabilities of our chapter to handle alone so we have created a Go Fund Me fundraiser to help raise funds.
The current status of the project is that we have identified that there are three major areas of concern to the veterans ability to live safely and comfortably. These areas are electrical rewiring of the home, fixing the leaking roof, and upgrading to an ADA compliant bathroom.
We are currently working with local contractors to get formal quotes for the work required. We are also working with local community leaders to develop local funding support for the overall project. If you are interested in supporting this project in any way please contact us. Our Commander and PR Officer were recently interviewed on Living in the Heart of Virginia regarding this project. Update - February 2024
---- Roof Repair Service ---- Thanks to James Jesse Roofing, LLC Combat Veteran Motorcycle Association® (CVMA) Lynchburg Chapter 27-11 initiated a project to help a Navy Veteran of the Korea area that needed extensive home repairs in order for him to remain living in his home safely, comfortably and with dignity. The three major areas of repairs were to fix a leaky roof, upgraded electrical service panel with associated wiring, and complete remodel of his bathroom facilities.
We would like to thank James Jesse Roofing of Lynchburg for their outstanding support and services in fixing RJ’s leaking roof and installation of new gutters to protect from future water damage.
When we contacted James he was eager to hear about our project to support this veteran and he took the time to come out to look the job over. He provided me with an exceptional offer that enabled us to work well within our budget for this aspect of the project.
Once we agreed on what was to be done, James quickly worked us into his busy schedule to get the work complete as fast as possible to stop any further damage.
The roof now looks awesome and best of all does not leak! The old rusted out gutters are gone with new beautiful fully functional gutters in their place.
Again, we cannot thank James and his crew enough for what they did for this veteran. They went “above and beyond” on working with us on the costs, on quickly scheduling the work, and on providing quality repairs!
